Before Your First Appointment
Intake Forms
Before your first session, we’ll send you a secure link to our patient portal where you can complete all necessary questionnaires and intake forms electronically.
Session Length
Sessions are typically 53-60 minutes.
Family Participation
Family members are welcome to participate in sessions when appropriate for your treatment.
Cancellation Policy
We understand that life happens, and sometimes you need to reschedule. However, we require 24-hour advance notice for cancellations or rescheduling.
- First missed appointment (without 24-hour notice): $85 fee
- Subsequent missed appointments: $150 fee
This policy helps us maintain availability for all clients and respects the time set aside for your care.
Privacy & Confidentiality
Your privacy is protected under HIPAA. We maintain strict confidentiality standards with limited exceptions as required by law.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What should I expect at my first appointment?
Your initial session focuses on assessment and understanding. We’ll discuss what brought you to therapy, your history, current challenges, and treatment goals. This helps us determine the most appropriate approach for your situation.
Do you offer telehealth/virtual sessions?
Yes! We offer both in-person sessions at our Cumming office and secure telehealth sessions, giving you flexibility in how you access care.
How long does treatment take?
This varies significantly based on individual circumstances. Some trauma can be resolved in weeks, while more complex situations may require months of intensive work. During assessment, we’ll provide realistic expectations for your specific situation.
What if I'm currently on psychiatric medications?
We’ll discuss this during assessment. Some medications can interfere with complete trauma resolution. If that’s the case, we’ll work with you and your prescriber to determine the best path forward.
Can family members participate in therapy?
Yes, family members are welcome to participate in sessions when appropriate for your treatment goals.
What about crisis situations?
If you’re experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For crisis support, you can also contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988.
